Who Do You Think You Are?

Tampa, Florida, has a new recording label that is changing the game!

If you are a talent (artist, songwriter, musician) or know somebody who is, you might get the feeling every once in a while that nobody really gives a damn about you or your music. Unfortunately, you would be absolutely right.

So how do you change that? You need the following:
  • You need direction and guidance from somebody who isn't looking strip you of your life's savings.
  • You need to show the world your talent and make them aware of your existence.
  • You need proper compensation (yes, money).
  • You need a metric shit-ton of grit and patient persistence.

That's just a vague overview. You need a lot more than that these days, but it's a start.

As an artist-songwriter, there are two things that really piss me off when I see it. First, a talented person who has no good direction or guidance. Two, an agent, promoter or manager who is just taking advantage of the talent's ignorance and drive to succeed.

Sorry agents, promoters, and managers, I have the talent's back here.

I know there are many upstanding people who stand on my side of the line and support creators of music, artists, bands, and talent. However, there are plenty of dirt bags who just want to make a buck off of someone else's ambition and it makes me f*cking sick to my stomach.

How the Long Road Record's team is gonna change all these nasty things!

We're going to support talent.

I know you want your resources to count for something and get you another step toward your goals.

I do too. I've spent way too much money and time on stuff that did not help me at all. I made the mistakes so you don't have to.

Have you ever heard the term "Agent Friendly?" It's a term that some talent agents use that pretty much means that when you work for them, you are not original, you're just another live jukebox, and you do not have an identity. Why? Because they want to make money off of you.

So, how do we change that?

By putting Bands, Artists, Musicians, Talents, and Creators first by honoring your identity.

My team at Long Road Records & Entertainment is not going to ask you to change to suit us or our clients. We are going to help develop your brand and business with proper, honest direction. Trust me, the proper clients will come that want you and what you have created: your music.

Answer these questions to see if you need help on your long road to success...

  • How often do you play for free or for terrible money?
  • Do you have a professional demo of your music?
  • Are you familiar with copyrights?
  • Do you have a PRO?
  • Do you know what NSAI is?
  • Do you know how to distribute your music to iTunes?
  • Do you know how much to charge per musician for a gig? (yes, money)
  • Do you have a website and presence on social media?
  • Do you have a promo video?
  • Do you know your target audience?
  • Have you ever been burned by an agent, manager, or promoter?
  • Do you feel like you're facing a giant by having the dream to become an artist or musician?

You're talented and creative. It's about time you started acting like it.

I'm not saying you need to be a douchebag, but I am saying that the world runs on creativity and the human imagination. If your music actually is good, it has value, and the world wants it. Time to start cashing in on your dreams!

Most likely if you've been in this business for even a short time, you've been asked to do something for free or for "exposure." It's about time somebody paid you back for all that "free" time.

We will give you a free half-hour consultation to go over where you are now and what you need to do to be successful. This isn't a sales tactic. This is no bullshit information and guidance from a team that has years of experience. You can use the entire half-hour as a Q+A if you want!

Or you can just stay tuned to this blog because we're going to share all the secrets and talk about all the music industry topics in future blogs and podcasts. We'll interview talent in Tampa and beyond so that they have an opportunity to share their stories and music!

We're about to throw a wrench in the system! Let us know if you want to be a part of making the music industry about the creators once again!
